Negroni Week 2015 is almost here!! Between June 1 – June 7th, GCDC will donate $1 each time you purchase the GCDC Negroni to the Capital Area Food Bank. The GCDC Negroni is a delightful summer blend of Campari, Gin, Dry Vermouth and fresh Blood Orange Juice served over ice and garnished with an Orange Wheel.
The mission of the Capital Area Food Bank is to feed those who suffer from hunger in the Washington metro area by acquiring food and distributing it through its network of partner agencies; and educating, empowering and enlightening the community about the issues of hunger and nutrition. CAFB is a member of Feeding America, a national network of 200 food banks.
Through Friday, GCDC is serving “Elsi’s Homemade Cinco de Mayo Fajita Grilled Cheese,” a melty mix of marinated chicken, queso fresco, sauteed red and green pepper and white onions (for Mexico’s flag), served with a side of tomatillo salsa for dipping. The sandwich costs $10 at lunch and $13 at dinner, when it comes with a side of soup, salad or tots. Pair it with $3 Corona bottles and $9 shots of Patron Silver tequila.

At least eight amazing grilled cheeses are on offer each evening, including such heart-stopping concoctions as the Carolina BBQ ($13), a cheddar mac ‘n’ cheese with housemade pulled-pork BBQ, bacon and jalapeños on buttered white bread. Don’t miss the hopelessly addictive poutine tots, a hulking plate of tots topped with cheese curds, house gravy, mushrooms, bacon and truffle oil ($10).

This spring, GCDC became the “client” for American University seniors and Communications professor, Dina Martinez, for the spring Public Relations Portfolio Class. Every year, the class partners with a local DC business and the students develop a strategic PR plan on behalf of the “client”. The students worked in agency teams throughout the semester to develop their campaigns. At the end of the semester, each team presented their campaign and GCDC selected a winner. GCDC was impressed with the innovative and creative ideas presented by all of the groups.
GCDC selected Affinity PR as the winning agency and looks forward to hosting their group at the restaurant this month for a prize dinner in which they will also design their own grilled cheese!
